Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ for Raspberry Pi 5
With this expansion module, you can easily connect an M.2 SSD directly to your Raspberry Pi 5. The M.2 HAT+ uses a small ribbon cable that communicates via the fast PCIe 2.0 bus. This provides much faster access to your storage than via an SD card or a USB hard drive.
Compatibility and support
- Supports M.2 M-key devices in sizes 2230 and 2242
- Single-lane PCIe 2.0 interface with a peak transfer speed of 500 MB/s
- Supplies up to 3A power to connected M.2 devices
- Complies with the Raspberry Pi HAT+ specification and is automatically recognized by the latest Raspberry Pi software
Scope of delivery
- M.2 HAT+ expansion board
- Ribbon cable for connection to the Raspberry Pi 5
- 16mm stacking header (only with standard M.2 HAT+)
- Spacers and screws
- Knurled double-edged screw for securing the M.2 SSD
Installation and enclosure
The M.2 HAT+ can be mounted inside the official Raspberry Pi 5 enclosure. For this, the fan must be removed from the enclosure. For sufficient cooling, the ActiveCooler is recommended, which can be placed between the Pi and the M.2 HAT. Note: with the ActiveCooler, the assembly no longer fits in the official enclosure.
You can also mount the Raspberry Pi in the enclosure without the ActiveCooler or fan. This is sufficient for many applications, but less ideal for intensive use.
